Segway Announces Management Change
Vernon R. Loucks Jr. Appointed Chief Executive Officer

MANCHESTER, N.H. - January 8, 2003 - Segway LLC is pleased to announce that Vernon R. Loucks Jr., who is an original member of Segway's Board of Directors and an investor in the company, has assumed responsibilities as Segway's Chief Executive Officer. Loucks is the former Chairman and CEO of Baxter International Inc., one of the world's leading medical products companies.

Mr. Loucks served in senior roles with Baxter for 34 years, including 19 years as CEO. During his tenure as CEO, he led sales growth from $1 billion to more than $7 billion, including significant expansion in international markets. One of the most successful products introduced by Baxter in the 1990's was the Homechoice™ peritoneal dialysis system, which was developed by Dean Kamen, Segway LLC's Founder and Chairman.

"It is exciting to see Vern take the key leadership position at Segway," said Kamen. "His expertise will be critical as we bring the benefits and value of the Segway Human Transporter to consumers for the first time."

Subsequent to Loucks' appointment as CEO, George Muller has chosen to resign his position as President to pursue other interests. Chairman Dean Kamen expressed his appreciation for Muller's contributions.
