Experience.com, Inc., Raises $16.5 Million

Financing Accelerates Launch Into Multi-Billion Dollar Educated Talent Markets

Boston, Mass. - 12/04/2001 - Experience.com Inc., the leading provider of recruiting networks and career management technology for universities and graduate schools, announced today that it closed $16.5 million in its third round of financing. The investment was led by Polaris Venture Partners and a new investor, Diamond Capital.

Over the past two years, Experience has become the dominant standard in providing recruiting and career management technology and services to over 70% of the top universities in the country, such as Brown University, Brigham Young University, University of Notre Dame, and Princeton University.

"Even in a difficult economy, Experience continues to demonstrate strong focus and execution on its core plan. The emerging talent market alone is a multi-billion dollar opportunity, and during the last 18 months, Experience has executed on its plan to build an extremely valuable, unique and defensible private network of university and educated talent relationships," says Jon Flint, co-founder and general partner at Polaris Venture Partners. "We are confident that the company's innovation, focus and scalable business model will continue to drive its success."

Targeted at the $8 billion annual expenditure made by enterprises in the rapidly growing "emerging talent" segment of the human capital marketplace, Experience's new enterprise solution provides first-time unified access to some of the hardest-to-reach, sought-after, quality talent demanded by today's leading organizations (see related press release Experience.com, Inc., Launches New eRecruiting Platform With Access To World's Largest Private Network Of Educated Talent dated December 4, 2001).

"The ability to raise capital in this environment validates our vision and business model," says Jennifer Floren, CEO and President of Experience.com, Inc. "Because of the 'economy neutral' nature and long-term value of educated talent for our customers, we are well positioned to build more and more value for universities, candidates, hiring enterprises and investor partners."

The additional funds will be used to further expand the company's university and educated talent network capabilities, and to fuel the company's launch into the enterprise markets, both with direct and indirect sales channels.

This is Experience's third round of financing. The company has raised $46.5 million to date.
