The
Boston Business Journal has published its Fifth
Annual 40 Under 40 supplement, a collection of
40 of some of the best and brightest of Greater
Boston's businesspeople under 40 years old.
The
special pullout section includes honorees from
real estate pros to prominent attorneys, nonprofit
execs to pioneers in biotechnology. It is a supplement
to the Oct. 4-10 BBJ and will be delivered to
the business weekly's thousands of readers on
Friday, Oct. 4.
Since
1998, the 40 Under 40 supplement has recognized
40 of Boston's brightest business and civic personalities.
The selections were made by a team of editors
that assessed each nominee's influence on industry
and local business. Also important in the selection
process were contributions to the civic health
of Greater Boston through volunteer work and other
forms of philanthropy.
"Boston
stands at the forefront of America's economy,
and the vigor and razor-sharp intelligence of
this year's honorees holds out promise that the
region will continue to lead," said George
Donnelly, the BBJ's editor. "Every year,
we receive more nominations than the year before,
and 2002 was no exception. We could easily have
published a 100 Under 40 supplement and still
not diminished the quality of the field."
On
Nov. 6, the Boston Business Journal will host
a celebratory reception at the Boston's renowned
Bay Tower Room to honor the 40 finalists and their
guests.
"We
are once again amazed and impressed by the quality
and quantity of young talented businesspeople
in Boston," said Michael Olivieri, publisher
of the Boston Business Journal. "The nominations,
which numbered in the hundreds, reflect the vitality
and mirrors the diversity of our local business
community. It proves that despite current economic
conditions this region has a bright future."
