Celarix Names Financial Management Veteran Robert J. Kelly As New CFO

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- September 19, 2000 - Celarix, Inc. (www.celarix.com), dedicated to bringing real customers Web-centric collaborative technology to improve the global supply chain, today announced the appointment of Robert J. Kelly as Chief Financial Officer. Kelly brings more than twenty years of technology and finance experience to Celarix' executive management team and is charged with leading the company's future strategic financial growth initiatives through acquisitions and, ultimately, an initial public offering.

For the last three years, Kelly was the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Summit Technology (NASDAQ: BEAM), where he was responsible for leading the company through a follow-on offering and the acquisition of Autonomous Technologies. He was also responsible for leading the financial organization, managing all analyst and investor relations, and directing the human resource and information technology divisions within the entire organization. Summit Technology was sold to Alcon Laboratories, a U.S. subsidiary of Nestle Corporation, in a transaction finalized in August 2000.

"Bob's experience with international operations paired with his assertive management style are the proven characteristics we were looking for to drive our company to the next level," said Evan Schumacher, CEO of Celarix. As the former chief financial officer for Bull HN Information Systems, the US subsidiary of a French information technology company with over $5.5 billion in revenues, Kelly was responsible for driving the financial, business and legal initiatives for a global organization. He led multiple acquisitions, implemented cost reduction systems that were replicated worldwide by the parent company and improved the profitability of the international operations unit by more than $10 million in one year.

"Celarix has a superior product set and an outstanding management team," said Kelly. "I was looking for an opportunity with a lot of growth potential - Celarix is beyond its years in product development and technology and has established itself as a leader in the industry. So many of the employees and executives have been on the client side of the business and understand the issues and challenges faced by our customers every day. The most successful companies in America were built on the combination of superior products serving underserved customers -- Celarix is serving underserved customers with the very best supply chain technology available today."
