The fantastic journey
is coming to completion.

Don and Carl return to New
York Times Square Thursday, December 4th
at 1:30 PM EST to complete an auto journey
Around the World.
The 1954 red Packard arrived
by ship in the New York harbor Monday,
December 1st. It is 24,000 miles around
the world at the equator. The exact final
mileage on the Packard will exceed 24,000,
allowing for 9,000 miles of Pacific, Atlantic
and Adriatic Sea crossings.
The auto trip Around the
World began on July 15, 1997 in Times
Square. The Packard arrived in Peking,
China September 1st. Don and Carl drove
12,000 miles across China, Tibet and the
Himalayan Mountains, India, Pakistan,
Iran, Turkey and across Europe, entering
Paris October 18, 1997. The Packard's
return to the USA was delayed three weeks
by a French truck drivers strike that
halted all transatlantic cargo shipments.
After crossing the mythical
finish line in busy Manhattan, the Packard
will leave for Dayton, Ohio and the Packard
Automobile Museum. The 1954 red clipper
convertible will be placed on permanent
display to commemorate its successful
drive Around the World.
