Trio Take Great Jeep Forward
12,000 mile Beijing to Paris race awaits!
The Arizona Republic July 26, 1997
David Pierce, Richard Taylor and Larry Davis (from left), from the Valley, will take on the 12,000 mile Beijing to Paris journey.

By any standard, this is a trip of a lifetime. Beijing to Paris. Not by plane, not by boat, not even by modern automobile, but in a rally of 100 vintage cars, each at least 30 years old.

Katmandu, Delhi, Tehran, Istanbul, Rome - more than 12,000 miles of overland travel, some without the benefit of roads. Across the entire width of mainland China, crossing Himalayan mountain passes more than 3 miles high, fording more than a dozen rivers in India, braving the hostile political climate of Iran.

Forty-five days of grueling adventure. The thought of it makes Phoenix lawyer Richard Taylor grin like a boy.
